How to Sink a Hole in One

For many players getting a hole in one will be a once in a lifetime event to be bragged about during each holiday or social gathering. As rare as it is, hole in ones are not impossible for the average player either through luck or skill. Of course, the major factor in sinking that hole in one is practice.

Practice is a word that all golfers need to come to love. Golf is a game of control and skill and it takes considerable practice to get to the same level of the professionals, let alone being able to get a hole in one.

It is important to first understand what a hole in one is. Also called an Ace, the hole in one is achieved when a player hits the ball from the tee and into the cup with only one shot. Usually possible with 3 par holes, hole in ones have been reported on 4 pars and even 5 par holes.

The player’s skill has much to do with achieving the hole in one as beginners rarely get a hole in one. Several golf professionals have gotten hole in ones at young ages but this does not set a standard. Remember, there is a reason Tiger Woods can make a living playing golf.

Players with a grasp of golf mechanics are often the ones to sink a hole in one, though luck chances have occurred. It is up to debate whether the Ace counts since it intercepted the duck before the hole; most will count it and it does add a nice flourish to the tale.

There is no sure fire method to hitting a hole in one beyond the all important practice. Perfecting the swing, grip, stance, and the entire golf game is just a step towards achieving this auspicious goal but even then it may take several years before you can mark that one on the score card.
