How to Improve Your Stroke
The Holy Grail to many players is how to improve that stroke without taking an eraser to the score card. The obvious answer to this is to improve your game and the strokes are sure to fall, though many are at a loss of how to improve and just what areas may need the improvement. There is no set method of lowering your golf score which may discourage beginners. However, by playing on a semi-regular basis, practicing, and understanding the basic mechanics of the game, anyone is assured to lower their strokes.
Everyone learned the basics of golf in the first years of school. There is a lever at work in the golf swing using the left arm, the wrist, as the hinge pin, and the club. The trick is to not bend the wrist as this will cause the club head to hit the ball before the hands. This has the effect of ruining the trajectory of the ball and can either add or subtract from the loft of the ball. Maintaining the proper grip will eliminate the chance of this incident occurring and will save valuable strokes in the game.
More than likely, you are gaining strokes during putting; a tragedy many share and that can easily be remedied given adequate form and practice. Gripping the putter lightly, form a triangle with your shoulders and both arms will dramatically affect your putting. When all of these components work together, and given that you are aiming for the hole, you will improve your putting and will improve your score.
The fact is that to lower your golf strokes and improve your score, it will take both time and patience. Make sure to warm up before each game, know the fundamentals of posture and grip, and keep a positive attitude. There is no quick fix method as each player will have a certain area that needs attention before improving their game. With time you will lower your strokes.
